A while ago I watched a serial called Terra Nova. A booming serials at that time, have been seeing the advertisement on Fox so many times that I remember it right away. The serial is about earth's conditions which got so polluted that man kind invented a time machine to move some of the people in earth 85 million years ago. Where the air is still fresh and the dinosaur are all alive. A fresh start.
People are being ruled with an old fashioned rules, and there was this guy in military suits that falls in love with the new girl. The rule is to address the girl's father about his intention and asked the girl politely for permission to date her. Pretty old fashioned, don't you think?
Then I take a look at how people do these days. They just do everything instantly. There's just no romance anymore. As we all know then, everything leads to intimate relationship with no strings attached. And when something goes wrong, instead of fixing the relationship they choose to leave it and find a new one. Because it is simply easier to do so. In fact, they are all prepared to take off whenever things get a little uncomfortable.
Not being hard on the gender, but the situation is very beneficial to men. Because most of them need short intimate relationship more then long term relationship. While for women, it's getting harder and harder on them to find someone who wants a long term relationship. They go through heartbreak after heartbreak looking for those who is willing to share a lifetime with them.
The scene in the serial also reviewed how the man wanted to know what the girl had been through throughout the day. I mean really interested in listening to the girl. How many of us, especially married women, tell their spouse about their day and get a cold response most of the time? :)
Not only the man is no longer interested in what the woman got to say, but also sometimes, the man just don't give a damn. Hoping deep inside that the woman will stop talking and let him enjoy the rest of the afternoon in silence doing things that he enjoyed. I bet most of you will agree with me, men and women.
A real man, a man who takes our hand and promises to protect us as long as he lives. Who is interested in our activitiy on a daily basis and wanting to be by our side most of the time. Who loves to share details in his life with us and craving for us to do the same.... Does he really exists?
I have no idea...
